Four protesters stood dramatically silent outside the Siam Paragon mall on Thursday to highlight demands that authorities drop charges against activists who joined Saturday's protest for a quick general election.
Three women and a man covered their mouths with duct tape while standing outside the shopping mall to send a political message to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) that silence could not keep them away from airing opinions.
“There is no more fear of the dictatorship,” protest leader Nuttaa Mahattana.
The silent protest was held after seven activists are ordered by police to hear charges on defying a ban on political gatherings of more than five people after they protested at Pathumwan intersection on Saturday against a possible poll delay.
Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said on Wednesday that 32 more had been added to the list to meet police. All are ordered to hear the charges at Pathumwan police station on Friday.
Ms Nuttaa demanded that the NCPO immediately drop the case against them.
