Silence as Russell Wilson and Seahawks approach deadline on new deal

Quarterback Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks have just over two hours to come to an agreement on a contract extension. Wilson had set a deadline of April 15 to reach a new deal or cease negotiations until at least next offseason.

As of this post, there have been no indications of movement on either side.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo provided the most recent update of the evening.

“With 3.5 hours to go until Russell Wilson’s deadline to do a deal with the Seahawks, it’s silent,” Garafolo tweeted. “Still work to be done to get to an agreement. Could always happen quickly but I’m not getting the sense the sides are finalizing a deal as I tweet. Gonna be a late night.”

NFL’s Ian Rapoport confirmed earlier Wilson’s agent, Mark Rodgers, was still at the Seahawks facility “grinding away at a contract extension.” Wilson reported to the VMAC as well on Monday for the start of the team’s offseason workouts.

With just two and a half hours to go until midnight, Garafolo is correct – gonna be a late night.
