Silas Wamangituka 'wanted' by Celtic as Neil Lennon runs rule over £4.5million striker

Celtic are keen on rising £4.5million Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a strong season in Ligue 2 and has netted nine times during the current campaign.

Interim Celtic boss Neil Lennon was in France on Monday and watched the forward during their 0-0 draw with Valenciennes, reports the Scottish Sun.

The likes of Hamburg and Fiorentina have also been keeping a close eye on his development after a host of impressive displays.

It's been a rapid progression for Wamangituka after he joined Paris from fifth-tier side Ales last summer.

His agent Olivier Belesi admits his client has many options but finding the right move is paramount.

He said: “We are a team working on a daily basis for his well-being.

“We are here to protect him from sharks and opportunists, to preserve him from all temptations.

“There is a lot of talk around him but we do not care about that."

Lennon, who stepped back in after Brendan Rodgers left in February, has spoken of Celtic's need to add more firepower in attack.

Odsonne Edouard has carried the workload in recent months with Leigh Griffiths taking time away from the game to deal with personal issues.

But the Scotland international is on his way back and could feature before the end of the season.

Oliver Burke and Timo Weah can both play through the middle but the loan pair aren't natural target men and Wamangituka would offer some physicality in the final third.
