Silas Wamangituka NOT on Celtic's radar as Neil Lennon quizzed over scouting mission

Neil Lennon has denied reports that Congolese striker Silas Wamangituka is on Celtic's transfer radar.

The Hoops interim boss has revealed the 19-year-old was NOT the target he was scouting at the Paris FC v Valenciennes Ligue 2 match on Monday night.

Lennon admits he was in France to eye up potential new arrivals and while Wamangituka is not one of them - he revealed a new striker is a priority heading into the summer window.

"It wasn't him," Lennon said after watching his side beat Kilmarnock. "But we are looking at players.

"And centre-forward is a position I would look at.”

After bidding an emotional farewell to their iconic European Cup-winning captain Billy McNeill, the stars aligned for the Hoops as they toiled to see off Killie.

After 67 minutes, the year of Celtic’s historic Euro trophy win, the man wearing Cesar’s famous No.5, Jozo Simunovic, rose to power home a header that earned them a 1-0 win.

Three precious points all but sealed eight-in-a-row and if Rangers fail to beat Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon afternoon the title will belong to Celtic.

And Lennon reckons McNeill was looking down as his side took a giant step closer to the trophy.

He said: “It’s amazing – the perfect way to win after everything that happened last week.

“The big man might have been looking down on us when we needed a goal.

“I’m pleased with the win, pleased with the second half and it’s a great three points.”

Celtic had struggled to break down Killie until that point in a game laden with emotion after a pre-match tribute to McNeill.

But Lennon said: “I don’t think it was nerves. The fans were a bit nervous but that’s understandable. At this stage of the season, unless you have real momentum, there is always going to be anxiety around the place.

“They overcame an obstinate hurdle today. We know we need a point now to guarantee the title.

“I don’t know if I’ll watch the Aberdeen-Rangers game. I might go golfing.”
