Orange and yellow cosmos flowers brighten up Hama Rikyu Gardens in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, on Friday. About 150,000 of these autumn flowers are blooming. The same day, the first snowfall this season was observed at a lodge around the summit of 1,984-meter-tall Mt. Kurodake in the Daisetsuzan mountain range in Hokkaido. According to a local tourism company, it is the earliest snowfall since 1974, when records started being kept.
