Signs of panic-buying at Canberra shops ... again

Early signs of panic buying at Canberra Supermarkets.

Shelves began to run empty on Friday as a sudden spike of panic-buying hit Canberra.

Coles Canberra Centre had almost empty toilet paper shelves on Friday night.

There were also signs of increased stocking up on rice at Coles, and toilet paper shelves were bare at Dickson Woolworths.

However, staff members were preparing to restock.

While not hit as hard, ALDI in Canberra Centre had visible signs of increased demand for toilet paper.

Woolworths and Coles have responded by swiftly, placing limits on high-demand items.

Unlike consumer behaviour in March, shoppers maintained social distancing and remained composed in-store.
