I'm signing off for the weekend - but I'll leave you with the sweet smell of cupcakes and success for one Leeds baker.
Independent Leeds baker and former restaurant chef David Bennett has been crowned Britain's best cupcake baker.
David, who owns the Sunshine Bakery in Chapel Allerton, was voted Cupcake Champion of Britain for his Banana and Mango Cupcake creation. Celebrity judge, the patissier Eric Lanlard, described the cupcake as "a breath of fresh air".
David - who you can follow on Twitter @sunshinebakery - overcame stiff competition from over 60 professional bakers in the National Cupcake-off to take the title in the run up to National Cupcake Week, which takes place from September 13-19.
The special week was launched by trade magazine British Baker. David's winning cupcake is a luscious sponge made of toasted ground almonds, banana puree, mango puree and muscovado sugar, with a delicious topping of mascarpone, caramelised banana puree, muscovado sugar and rum.
David, who used to work in Michelin star restaurants, five of them under Marco Pierre White, said:
"My inspiration for this cupcake is sunny days. We stand out because we only use natural ingredients and make everything from scratch using French gastronomic recipes."
The finals of the competition were hosted by the eco-boutique Hotel Rafayel, located near Chelsea Wharf in London, which houses a cupcakery, MyChelle's, in its foyer.
Have a good 'un.
