'Significant concerns' for man who vanished from Scots town sparking police probe

Police are concerned for the wellbeing of a man who vanished from East Renfrewshire.

Andrew Irvine was last seen in Barrhead's Main Street at around 8.10am on Friday.

Officers say the 48-year-old's disappearance is 'very out of character'.

Andrew is described as being five foot, ten inches tall and of slim build, with short, grey and white hair and a beard.

When last seen he was wearing a black jacket and blues jeans and carrying a black rucksack with grey stripes.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Fiona McGuffie said: “This is very out of character for Andrew and there are significant concerns for his wellbeing.

“We are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts, or who believes they may have seen him, to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1531 of Friday, May 27."
