Signature Group opens its latest bar-restaurant in exclusive Edinburgh setting

Hospitality firm Signature Group has opened  its latest Edinburgh venture - bar-restaurant, McLarens on the Corner in Morningside, Edinburgh.

The dog-friendly venue at the spot known as Holy Corner is on three floors and serves breakfast, lunches, casual and formal dining and a cocktail menu. Food includes produce from cheese shop IJ Mellis and Andante Bakery, with dishes including langoustine, monkfish and squid fritto misto and hand cut wild mushroom pappardelle.

It is named after Duncan McLaren, the Edinburgh Lord Provost of 1833 to 1881 who was credited with saving Auld Reekie from bankruptcy.

Signature Group's venues include Cold Town House and the Black Bull in Edinburgh, The Spiritualist and Church on the Hill in Glasgow and the Paramount in Aberdeen.

Nic Wood, owner of Signature Group, said: “We’re proud have opened McLarens on the Corner after many months of planning, designing, research and renovation.

"The local community here is proud of its area, so it is great to be able to bring them something new. Having lived here myself I really wanted to bring some of the research that I’ve seen across North America to Morningside. We hope that McLarens can become a hub for the surrounding area, offering a place for everyone and quite literally their dog to come in, relax and enjoy some great food.”
