These last few years have highlighted the importance of cohesion.

There’s always been good news to celebrate within the LGBTQ+ community but the pandemic has also polarised - bringing into sharp focus the stigmas, attitudes and discrimination that certain groups still face.

Just this year already, we've seen a spur of positive news within the community, such as councillors taking a stand for better trans rights, a record number of LGBTQ+ characters on our screens and people rallying together to fund crucial LGBTQ+ charities.

But at the same time there are stories that illustrate how far we still have to travel - not just here, but around the world.

We've heard of the battles that trans people face on a daily basis, the need for changes to laws surrounding conversion therapy and countless examples of brutal homophobia.

These stories demonstrate how the fight for equality and acceptance has to continue today.

To keep up with this whole rich picture sign up to our email newsletter which aims to dissect and examine different aspects of issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community right now - such as the importance of pronouns, why LGBTQ+ parents are often faced with 'fertility taxes' and why some people just seem to be so pressed about rainbow road crossings right now.

The LGBTQ+ Bulletin is written and curated by Manchester Evening News reporter Adam Maidment and will feature a host of features and think pieces alongside the biggest news from across the network.

To sign up to the newsletter, simply put your email address into the form below or, if you can't see it, follow this link, add your email address and select LGBTQ+ Bulletin.

You will then receive the next newsletter straight to your inbox each week.
