And some Arsenal fans think it's the perfect time for technical director Edu to get down to business in the summer transfer window and bring in a player to bolster Mikel Arteta's first-team squad.
The holders from 2016 were beaten 1-0 by one of the pre-tournament favourites Belgium on Sunday night, with Thorgan Hazard - brother of former Chelsea star Eden - scoring the only goal of the game with a brilliant long-range effort.
But the player who caught the eye of many Arsenal fans was former Swansea City midfielder Renato Sanches.
It just so happens that Sanches impressed amid talk of returning to the Premier League this summer.
That is according to a report in the international media, who claim the Gunners have asked Lille to be kept 'informed' of the situation concerning the Portuguese international's future.
Arsenal and Lille have developed a close relationship in recent summers with Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes both arriving at the Emirates Stadium from the Ligue 1 side in the past two summer windows.
But will the north London outfit make it a hat-trick with Sanches who is valued at £27million, according to transfermarkt?
Well, it may take an offer of more than the midfielder's valuation to even convince Lille into selling, although links to the 23-year-old gave Arsenal fans a reason to do some scouting during the last-16 Euro 2020 clash.
And with Sanches' Portugal side being dethroned, there have been calls on Twitter for Edu to get a deal done.
