The fashion industry breathes a great sigh of relief: at last - o joy! - Sienna Miller has unleashed her fashion line on the world at large. Oh calloo callay!
You remember Sienna, right? Famous for being Jude Law's girlfriend - but now she's not. Then famous for being kind of an actress - except she's not (sorry, until I see her in a film that actually involves acting I refuse to accept this self-description.) So why not now become a fashion designer - when she's not? You gotta give the girl credit: there is a kind of consistency to her career path.
Anyway, the label - called, rather catchily, Twenty8Twelve, because Sienna's birthday is December 28th, of course. Clever way to ensure those fashion PRs know when to send you extra freebies, Sienna! Bravo! - launched last week on some hotel roof in New York. And why not, we say?
The name of the collection almost rivals that of the damn label: "An Anthology of Rebellion." Fanbloodytastic. But Sienna, tell us - what the buggery hell does that actually mean? "It's a ton of different things based on free-thinking people," replied this nouveau Christian flipping Dior.
But what really intrigue Marina and me are some of the comments made by the guests at the launch. Ken Downing from Neiman Marcus is a particularly mystifying fellow. "[The clothes have] that coquettish flirty attitude that they both have," he told fashion website fashionweekdaily.com, referring to Sienna and her sister Savannah with whom she designed the collection. "Let's face it, I would be devastated if Sienna was obsessed with the way she looks." Uh, earth to Ken? We don't want to make any assumptions round here but prepare to be on close terms with disappointment. But what, other than the coquettishness of the clothes, attracted Mr Downing to the collection? "I adore Savannah. She's the same height as me!" he replied.
And there, ladies and gentlemen, concludes today's report from the fashion frontline.
