West Brom struck by sickness bug ahead of Bristol City encounter

Bristol City are set to face a depleted West Brom side on Tuesday evening.

According to Birmingham Live the Baggies are without the suspended Ahmed Hegazi and also have fitness doubts over several players.

Hegazi is suspended after he was sent off for two bookable offences at Millwall.

Central defender Craig Dawson missed the game with a sickness bug, but is expected to play in tomorrow night's game.

“He had a sickness thing, I couldn’t run the risk of that being spread and passing it on at the hotel,” said caretaker boss Jimmy Shan in Monday's press conference.

“I’ll speak to the medical staff and Craig. I fully expect him to be available.

“I’ll have an update off the club doctor and medical team today to see where he is, but Craig being Craig, if he’s rested and recuperated I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Meanwhile, several other Baggies have been ruled out of the travelling party heading to Ashton Gate.

James Morrison (hamstring), Kyle Bartley (knock) and Gareth Barry (knee) are all expected to miss out.

“Gareth Barry has had a little bit of a setback with illness as well,” Shan said.

“I think a sickness bug has gone across the country.”

Dawson is likely to be partnered by Tosin Adarabioyo at the back, who made his first start for a month at the weekend.

Matt Phillips is out with an ankle knock but Kieran Gibbs could return for the visitors to BS3.
