Sickening: Police brought in as homophobic slur is left on a car and house

Yobs spray-painted an offensive slur on a house and car in a sickening homophobic attack.

Police are investigating after the term was daubed across a Peterlee property earlier this week.

Durham Constabulary has now slammed the "completely unacceptable" act.

“We are investigating a criminal damage incident in which a homophobic slur was spray painted on a car in Gilbert Road," said a spokesperson for the force.

“It happened sometime between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday (September 10 and 11).

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are working hard to identify the offender."

“We would appeal for anyone with any information which could help our enquiries to come forward and speak to police, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The victim has been contacted by ChronicleLive for comment.
