Sickening attack on pensioner, 71

A 71 year-old man sustained serious injuries during a sickening attack in Ayr.

The pensioner was attacked during an incident in the Seaforth Road area of town.

It is believed the attack took place at around 8pm on Saturday, July 4 when the victim was set upon.

The  attacker is described as being slim build with short grey shaved hair, tanned complexion, and was wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt.

Detective Constable Lana Grant, from Ayr CID, said: “Our enquiries into this report are very much ongoing and we are trying to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw an assault take place, or saw the man walking injured between Seaforth Road and Seaforth Crescent to please come forward.”

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1108 of 5 July.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
