Sickened Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright admits his side got exactly what they deserved as a 2-0 loss to Motherwell plunged them into the relegation mire.
The Ayrshire side went into the game with a two-point cushion to the play-off spot but both Hamilton and Ross County won to send them sinking to 11th.
And the Killie boss refused to make any excuses for his players as he admitted the performance just wasn't good enough.
Wright told BBC Sportsound: "I think Motherwell deserved to win the game.
"I thought they started both halves better than us, and particularly the second half is a problem we've had since I've been here.
"Although they started the first half they only had one clear chance, I think (Jake) Hastie had a header where he probably should score.
"We got ourselves back into the game first half but we didn't do enough over the 90 minutes. The players know that. Too many mistakes, didn't pass the ball well enough for us today.
"Even when we go two up we don't make the right decisions, we don't get enough quality in the box to make that try and work.
"We got what we deserved today.
"We've put ourselves in a position where we've got to rely on other results but the performance didn't deserve three points today so I've no qualms about the result."
Wright was then asked if the objective has to now be two wins to avoid the drop.
He responded: "That won't guarantee us it.
"It's two wins and we've got 10-11 days before we play St Mirrren so plenty of recovery time and work on the training pitch.
"We'll go again and we have to win the next match, we have to put ourselves in a position where we go to Hamilton with a chance of staying in the league."
