Sickened Scots restaurant owner puts torched and wrecked eatery up for sale after series of attacks

A restaurant forced out of business after a series of attacks has gone up for sale.

San Vincenzo in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, closed its doors in October after a devastating fire.

A car was driven deliberately through a large window before the Italian restaurant was set on fire.

It was the third attack on the property in months.

In July a pick-up truck reversed through a rear window of the eaterie and in September a car smashed into the building before a small fire broke out.

The building was also vandalised in a series of attacks.

Owner Vincent Marini claimed there was a sustained effort to drive him out of business and he posted on Facebook, “Sadly, they won” before putting the restaurant on the market.

After one of the attacks, he told customers: “San Vincenzo has been destroyed to all our customers you supported us through out it all. Will they ever stop, who knows?”

One woman said after a recent attack: “So shocking – so sorry for you.

“After all your hard work and all the finalist awards. It’s just not right.”

San Vincenzo was a finalist in three categories, including best newcomer, at the 2019 Scottish Italian Awards but closed before the winners were announced. The restaurant has been up for sale for £600,000.
