Sick thugs post lit fireworks through letter boxes and fire them at homes in Paisley

Sick thugs sent lit fireworks through letter boxes and shot them at terrified residents' doors in a spree of attacks in a Scots town.

There have been four separate reports of the explosives been aimed at homes in Paisley this week.

Police say they were either launched at people's front doors or posted through letter boxes while lit.

Chief Inspector Rhona Fraser, Area Commander for Paisley warned that there can be 'devastating' consequences.

She said: "The consequences of deliberate acts like these involving fireworks can be devastating for innocent members of the community.

"I would ask that those responsible consider the impact of their actions. "

There have been a surge in firework incidents as Guy Fawkes night draws in.

In one incident in Aberdeen this week fireworks were shot at high rise flats in the city with terrified residents seeing explosions yards from their windows.

With no large scale organised displays there’s fear that sporadic fires and private fireworks displays could be a danger.
