A sick Scots carer has been struck off after having unprotected sex with a teenager at a council-run care home.
Michael Wilkinson, 32, a social care officer, warned the girl not to tell anyone.
He was jailed in June at Dundee Sheriff Court for the sexual activity with the 16-year-old he was supposed to be taking care of.
He was sentenced to 17 months in prison at Dundee Sheriff Court after he pled guilty to, while being in a position of trust, having sex with a voluntary resident at a children's unit, attempting to place her hand on his privates and repeatedly touching her on the body between August 15 and September 8 2019.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
Wilkinson, of Cleghorn Street, Dundee, had sex with the child, sometimes unprotected, in a living room, while other residents and staff were sleeping, the court heard.
Now bosses at the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have removed Wilkinson from the register for the 'serious sexual offence' which they say was likely to have 'caused her serious harm'.
A report from the body slammed Wilkinson for having sex with her while 'in a position of trust' and that she was a 'vulnerable service user'.
It reads: "You committed a serious sexual offence against a young person in your care, which is likely to have caused them serious harm.
"This was an abuse of the position of trust you were in and is indicative of deep seated attitudinal issues.
"The behaviour which led to your conviction is fundamentally incompatible with continued professional registration.
"If you were to remain registered, there would be an ongoing risk to public protection and the wider public interest."
Under a section entitled 'reasons for your removal' the SSSC report adds: "You were in a position of trust and abused a vulnerable service user, who you would have known to be vulnerable..
"Your conduct took place inside of work and was linked to your work with service users.
"There was a pattern of behaviour over a two month period. Your behaviour caused, or is likely to have caused, harm to the service user."
Jailing Wilkinson in June, Sheriff Alastair Carmichael said: "You were 30 years old at the time and the complainer was 16 and a resident at that unit.
"You were supposed to play a significant role in providing a safe environment for the residents and the complainer.
"Instead, you had sexual intercourse with this young person on three occasions, two of which without any protection.
"In my view, there is no alternative here but a custodial sentence."
