A man who shot to fame impersonating Scots king Robert the Bruce during Bannockburn commemorations has admitted sharing sickening images of child abuse.
Brian McCutcheon, 54, was working at a community hall in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, when police were alerted that someone was accessing indecent images online.
Officers raided the hall keeper's home in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, but left empty handed.
But when they attended the hall they discovered four laptops and found one contained twisted photos of youngsters being abused.
CCTV footage from the hall showed McCutcheon using the device at the same time the images had been sent.
A total of nine photos were discovered along with five videos showing abuse of the most depraved level.
McCutcheon has appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted distributing indecent images of children at the community hall between January last year and January this year.
Depute fiscal Mairi-Clare McMillan said: "The locus for this offence is the community hall which is the workplace of the accused where he was employed as caretaker.
"In January last year, the Lanarkshire public protection unit were made aware that indecent images of children had been shared from the router in the hall.
"A search of his home revealed nothing but during a search of the hall, four laptops were found in a cupboard.
"Cyber crime officers then attended and carried out an on-site examination and during this one of the laptops appeared to have indecent images of children and there were also incoming and outgoing messages on an app.
"CCTV was observed and showed the accused in possession of the laptop when images were accessed."
Sheriff Linda Nicolson deferred sentence on McCutcheon until next month for reports and continued bail.
He was added to the sex offenders' register and the laptop he had been using was seized by prosecutors.
In 2014, McCutcheon made headlines after playing Bruce during the Bannockburn Live event.
He was dressed in full regalia for the event, which commemorated the 700th anniversary of Bruce's victory over the invading English armies of Edward II just outside Stirling.
McCutcheon said: "He's a personal hero of mine. I'm originally from a small village in Ayrshire which is only three miles from where The Bruce was born.
"He was a guy who fought for what he believed in, even when the odds were stacked against him.
"My gran always instilled the idea that you should never give up, like the story of him and the spider, and that's something that has always stuck with me."
He appeared in newspapers across the country and was also interviewed for programmes in France and Germany following the event which was attended by around 20,000 people.
