Sick rapist attacked young girl at Kilmarnock's Dean Castle Country Park

A rapist who preyed on a young girl from when she was aged just three has been locked up for eight years.

Alexander Renwick repeatedly attacked the child – including at Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock .

The abuse went on for almost four years between October 2000 and May 2004.

Jurors heard how sick Renwick also regularly targeted a young boy.

The 37 year-old was jailed when he appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow. Renwick, of Dalmellington, was earlier convicted of raping the girl.

He was also found guilty of indecently assaulting the boy as well as a charge of lewd and libidinous conduct against the child.

These crimes occurred between 2002 and 2010 at different locations in Ayrshire.

Lord Beckett also put Renwick on the sex offenders list indefinitely.

Susan Duff, defending, earlier told the court: “He maintains his position of denial that he had at trial.

“He had previously led a largely solitary lifestyle with little contact with others.”

Renwick showed no emotion as he was led handcuffed to the cells.
