'Sick of them' - Liverpool fans react to Champions League defeat to Real Madrid

Liverpool fans have given their reaction to their side’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Reds suffered a 5-2 loss to the La Liga outfit in the last-16 first leg at Anfield. It leaves Jurgen Klopp's men with a daunting task to overcome a three-goal deficit in the second leg in Madrid on March 15.

Darwin Nunez had opened the scoring for Liverpool in the early minutes of the contest. Mohamed Salah then added another to put the Reds 2-0 up, after capitalising on a Thibaut Courtois mistake.

However, two goals from Vinicius Jr put Madrid on level terms before half time. The second half then saw a brace from Karim Benzema and an Eder Militao header to see Liverpool handed a 5-2 defeat.

Liverpool fans have now taken to social media to express their thoughts and emotions on the defeat to Madrid. Here is a round-up of what they had to say.

Connor: “Genuinely how do you concede five at home in an hour.”

G Dog: “We’ve been embarrassed all season on a domestic front and now it’s time to be embarrassed in Europe! Lost for words, flat as you get after the second and the second half was an embarrassment! We don’t deserve to be in the Champions League, simple as that.”

Jordan: “Midfield getting talked about loads but the defence is a real problem also.”

Annie: “Just when it feels like we’re at our lowest, we find a new low. That’s been the story of the season.”

Ol: “If we were at home second leg. Then maybe but absolutely no chance at Real Madrid.”

Mike: “Would be more than happy to never play Real Madrid ever again. Sick of them.”

Pez: “How pathetic was that second half. Crumbled.”
