Sick ghouls sell remote-control Kobe Bryant helicopters after star's tragic death

Internet ghouls are cashing in on Kobe Bryant’s death by bumping up the prices of the star’s special edition radio controlled model helicopters.

The gyro heli - which is officially licensed by the NBA - had been on sale for as little as six pounds before Sunday’s tragedy.

But after the horror smash - which killed nine in California - eBay auctioneers rocketed the cost of the models with starting bids set at more than £300.

One listing gives the option to buy the LA Lakers chopper for £580 without having to bid.

There are 41 potential buyers ‘watching’ the auction, which means they will be alerted to any new offers.

Another post started at £34.59 and after 48 bids sits at £174.88. There are 73 ‘watchers’.

The toy is designed for kids aged over eight and has a printed signature of the basketball legend on the side of the packaging.

Another RC model is an eight inch figure of Kobe Bryant, with propellers attached to the head, that flies like a helicopter.

Kobe was killed with his daughter, Gianna, 13, six family friends and pilot Ara Zobyan when their Sikorsky S-76 crashed into a mountain at 185mph in Calabasas.

Investigators said the recovery of the bodies had proved ‘difficult’ due to the rugged terrain and mountainside location. All remains have now been taken from the site.

Former LA Lakers star Bryant is - considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

He and his daughter were heading to a girls' basketball tournament at a sports academy, where he was to have coached his daughter's team that day.

Bryant was a five-time NBA champion who remained with the Lakers for his entire 20-year career.

He was also a double Olympic gold medallist.

His achievements include being the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) and two-time NBA Finals MVP. He retired in April 2016.

A petition calling for the NBA to change its official logo to one of Bryant has so far been signed by more than one million fans.

The current logo features the silhouette of another legendary LA Lakers player Jerry West, who is 81 years old.
