Sick Emiliano Sala 'boarding passes' emerge online as Cardiff City and Swansea City fans unite in disgust

Cardiff City and Swansea City fans have united in disgust after a picture circulated on social media mocking the death of Bluebirds striker Emiliano Sala.

A photo posted on Twitter shows a fake plane boarding pass with the tragic striker's name on it, along with the name of Michael Dye, a Cardiff fan who was killed at an England vs Wales game in 2011. The top of the boarding pass is emblazoned with the words "Swansea City Airlines" and the club crest.

It is not known who created the mocked-up passes.

Argentine footballer Sala died when the plane he was travelling in from Nantes in France crashed into the English Channel in January. He had been on his way to Cardiff following a £15million transfer to the South Wales club. The pilot, David Ibbotson, also perished in the incident. His body has never been recovered.

Supporters from both clubs have moved to condemn it ahead of the first South Wales derby in five years.

The game between the two sides, which kicks off at midday on Sunday, is subject to bubble-style travel restrictions. Police have also confirmed that facial recognition technology will be used ahead of the match.
