Sports Illustrated predicts dismal 4-12 record for the Lions

For the portion of the Lions fan base that seems to enjoy the team being unsuccessful, the NFL season predictions from Sports Illustrated are reason for celebration. For the fans who are drinking the Honolulu blue Kool-Aid, what SI envisions is arsenic in that beverage.

The prediction is a 4-12 record and last place in a very competitive NFC North. Much of the negativity stems from their questions about head coach Matt Patricia, as well as a tough schedule and an offense lacking in skill position sizzle.

Another major wildcard with a change at offensive coordinator. Still, this season will be a referendum on second-year head coach Matt Patricia and whether he can wrangle a team that looked stunningly flat-footed at times a year ago. Detroit will be strong through the middle, with one of the better tight end sets in the league and a solid offensive line, they may not have enough firepower to navigate what promises to be a brutal division.

This is the lowest win total we’ve seen predicted for Detroit by a national media outlet this year and definitely runs way under the common current over/under figure of 7.5 at most sportsbooks.
