Shy pooch Ruby is looking for new family to love

Animal welfare experts are appealing to find a new home for Ruby a four-year-old Staffy cross who is currently living at Dogs Trust’s West Calder Rehoming Centre.

Her carers say Ruby is an incredibly sweet girl who can be shy initially but makes friends quickly and does enjoy a gentle fuss once she knows and trusts you.

A spokeswoman for Dogs Trust said: “She is very affectionate and will always be first in line for a cuddle! Ruby can live with teens who are over the age of 16 years old and would prefer to be the only pet in the home.

“Ruby can be overwhelmed in busy and loud places so would prefer to be walked in quiet areas where she is happy to say hello to calm and polite doggy friends.

“She would like her own garden where she can spend time off her lead where she can run around or play chase with her favourite toys.

“As Ruby can take her time feeling confident in new situations, she is looking for owners who are happy to take their time getting to know her and allow her to take life at her own pace.

“Ruby is a playful active girl who is happiest when she is getting lots of attention from her loved ones.”

If you think you could provide a home for Ruby or any of the 50 dogs currently available for rehoming, please contact the centre on 01506 873459. You can also follow Dogs Trust West Calder on twitter @DT_WestCalder for regular updates on events and dogs available for rehoming.
