Shuttle bus to serve Craigneuk following major road closure

Craigneuk residents will have access to bus travel despite a major road being closed until Sunday.

After the closure of Glasgow Road, North Lanarkshire Council have opted fund a shuttle bus through SPT and bus company JMB while the road is shut for resurfacing.

Glasgow Road is closed from the junction of Netherton Street, at the Heathery roundabout, to Bridge Street until Sunday.

Bus services in and around the area had been diverted, leaving residents in Craigneuk without a service for four days.

Craigneuk councillor Kenneth Duffy said: “I’m pleased that North Lanarkshire Council have stepped in to reconnect residents in Craigneuk, the closure of the road and lack of bus provision had the potential to cause chaos for Craigneuk.

“Special thanks to the Roads Department and the Craigneuk Community Council for making sure that disruption will be minimal.”
