Donald Trump’s personal lawyer lost his cool live on air telling his Democratic co-guest to “shut up, moron.”
Rudy Giuliani was invited on Fox News to defend Donald Trump against allegations he conspired to smear presidential hopeful Joe Biden, but he swiftly launched a blistering verbal attack on fellow guest Christopher Hahn.
Mr Hahn, a former aide to senior Democrat Chuck Schumer, accused both the US President and Mr Giuliani of breaching political norms.
He claimed Mr Giuliani was “making things up” in his pursuit of Mr Biden, who is the front-runner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
The suggestion prompted Mr Giuliani, a former Mayor of New York, to say he should “sue him” for libel.
When Mr Hahn challenged his understanding of libel law, Mr Giuliani responded: “Shut up, moron. Shut up.
“Shut up, you don’t know what you’re talking about, idiot.”
He went on: “You’re just lying. Just keep your lying mouth shut.”
Mr Trump stands accused of pressuring Ukraine’s leader help to help him smear Joe Biden, whose son Hunter had business dealings in the country.
The US president admits discussing the Bidens with Volodymyr Zelensky, but insists no foul play was involved.
The allegations triggered formal impeachment proceedings against Mr Trump, announced last night by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
But the president has dismissed the move as simply the latest chapter in a Democratic "witch hunt" against him.
