The Shura Council denounced on Monday the US Senate's baseless allegations and accusations against Saudi Arabia, as well as its interference in the Kingdom’s internal affairs and distortion of its role on the regional and international scenes, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
The Saudi people categorically reject the defamation of their leaders, namely Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, said the Council after an ordinary session held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh.
The Council underlined the Kingdom's role in fighting terrorism on the military, financial and ideological levels, crediting it for reducing the threat of this phenomenon throughout the world.
It stressed that the US Senate’s stances does not reflect the role of parliamentary councils in bolstering ties between nations, whether officially or popularly.
Saudi Arabia should not be dragged into US internal policy disputes, it urged, warning that this could affect the historic and strategic relations between Riyadh and Washington.
