
Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Wednesday Shura Council Chairman Dr. Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al-Sheikh during his current visit to Cairo.
Dr. Abdullah commended Egypt’s continued efforts to deal with various challenges in the region. He also praised the positive developments the Egyptian economy has witnessed and expressed Saudi Arabia’s complete support of Egypt.
He emphasized the close and special relations that unite the two brotherly peoples and countries on all fronts, as well as, the high standing Egypt enjoys among Saudi masses.
The meeting addressed means to develop prospects of joint relations, and regional issues of mutual interest.
Official MFA Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Hafez stated that at the beginning of the meeting, Shoukry commended the depth and strength of Egyptian-Saudi relations, which are considered an extension of the historical links and the values of fraternity that have always united the brotherly peoples and countries.
He praised the special level bilateral relations have reached in all fields in light of the keenness of both sides to reinforce partnership frameworks between them at both the popular and official levels.
Hafez added that Shoukry, also, expressed his appreciation of the level of existing cooperation between the Egyptian and Saudi parliaments.
The importance of parliamentary diplomacy was addressed, as well as, the role this plays in proposing various subjects and its positive effects on reinforcing the course of bilateral cooperation on all fronts, in the service of and for the good of the two brotherly peoples.
He mentioned that the meeting, also, addressed overall regional issues of mutual interest. Discussions between the two sides reflected a mutual understanding of the magnitude of the challenges facing the Arab region.
In this context, both sides agreed on the need to advance the course of Arab unity and joint action to confront all challenges and reinforce the pillars of security and stability in the region. During the meeting, Shoukry emphasized Egypt’s complete support of brothers in Saudi Arabia, and that it stands by the Kingdom in all it undertakes to ensure its security and stability.
The Official Spokesperson, further, added that during the meeting, overall economic reforms in the Kingdom were addressed, as well as, the Saudi vision and objective toward achieving more milestones.
Meanwhile, Grand Imam of al-Azhar Ahmed el-Tayeb received Dr. Abdullah and his accompanying delegation, welcoming him and expressing his appreciation for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Tayeb stressed the solid relations between Azhar and the kingdom, and Dr. Abdullah in his turn expressed gratitude to Azhar for being one of the pillars of knowledge and Islamic intellect in the world.
