India on Sunday unveiled a formidable 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, with captain Shubman Gill set to lead as Captain and Shreyas Iyer to play as Vice Captain.
Veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been included in the squad, although Kohli's participation remains subject to fitness clearance.
The batter was sidelined from the earlier ODI series against Afghanistan after suffering an injury in the IPL final in May, where he was playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who defeated Gujarat Titans to secure back-to-back league titles. Kohli is set to undergo a fitness assessment in Bengaluru on Monday ahead of the team's departure for England.
The batting unit also features Iyer, while wicketkeeping duties will be shared by KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.
The all-round department includes Washington Sundar, Axar Patel (as a replacement for Harsh Dubey) and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
India's bowling attack will once again be spearheaded by pace ace Jasprit Bumrah, who is joined by Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.
The spin department will be led by Kuldeep Yadav, with support from Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. Moreover, batter Yashaswi Jaiswal was also dropped from the national team for this tour.
