Shrewsbury Town striker taken to hospital with 'heart issue'

Former Motherwell striker Ryan Bowman was taken to hospital this afternoon with a heart issue during his side's League One defeat against Ipswich Town.

Bowman, 29, who played for the Fir Park club from 2016-19, was replaced 10 minutes before the interval, after complaining of heart palpitations and was taken to Ipswich Hospital by members of the club's medical staff.

Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill said after the game that Bowman had a heart rate as high as 250bpm.

Cotterill said: "Where he is with his health right now we don't quite know - he's at hospital now.

"He had a huge heart rate problem, he has palpitations.

"I don't quite know what that's about. I just hope everything is OK with Ryan."
