Shrewsbury Town confirm two players in isolation ahead of Bolton Wanderers EFL Trophy match

Bolton Wanderers' opponents in the EFL Trophy this evening Shrewsbury Town have confirmed that two of the Salop players are isolating after coming into contact with somebody who has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Trotters head to Montgomery Waters Meadow this evening to take on the League One side in Northern Group C of the competition.

But ahead of the clash, the League One club have confirmed that two of Salop's first team players are isolating and have been since the weekend.

They are doing so after coming into contact with somebody outside the club who has recently returned a positive test for COVID-19.

A club statement said Shrewsbury was made aware on Saturday morning of the development prior to the 1-1 draw against Gillingham.

Both players have been isolation since then as a precaution as per EFL regulations and will continue to do so.

The Shropshire club has not confirmed which players are isolating.

The statement read: "The club were made aware on Saturday morning, that two of our first team players had recently been in contact with someone outside the club who had tested positive for COVID-19.

"As a precaution, both players have been in isolation since Saturday morning and will continue to isolate as per EFL regulations."

The match kicks off at 5.30pm.
