Shrewsbury tease Bristol City by channelling Lucas Leiva ahead of Liverpool FA Cup tie

Shrewsbury Town set up a fourth round FA Cup tie with Liverpool last night after Aaron Pierre's 89th minute goal ensured a 1-0 victory over Bristol City.

The two clubs needed a replay after the first tie ended in a 1-1 draw and Championship Bristol were the favourites to progress.

However, and to rub salt into the wounds, Pierre was on trial with the Robins in 2017 but the club decided not to sign him.

Naturally that decision came back to haunt them when the defender fired in a 25-yard strike to deny them the chance of hosting Liverpool in the next round.

And now Shrewsbury's Official Twitter account has trolled the club for their decision to let the match-winner go.

Using Lucas Leiva's infamous 'unluckeee' video, the Shrewsbury found Bristol's original tweet from 2017 that confirmed Pierre had not been signed.

The club quoted the video with: "You win some you lose some. #Salop"

Town will host the Reds on Sunday, January 26 at 5pm.
