A young boy and a 51-year-old woman have died in a crash between a car and pick-up truck.
The tragedy happened on the A458 south of Shrewsbury in Shropshire shortly before 3.30pm yesterday.
The female victim lost her life on the scene.
The eight-year-old boy was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital for treatment where he sadly died.
West Mercia Police said a red Honda CR-V had collided head-on with a gold Toyota Hi-Lux.
The road was closed while officers, West Midlands Ambulance and Shropshire Fire and Rescue services attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "Very sadly, a 51-year-old woman died at the scene and an eight-year-old boy was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital but also died.
"Two men also suffered serious injuries. One was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and another to Stoke University Hospital."
The road reopened at around 10pm.
Officers want ton speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the cars being driven in the area around that time, or who may have captured the incident or the cars on dash cam.
