LUCKNOW: While weather remained pleasant as intermittent rain lashed the city for the second consecutive day on Saturday, waterlogging due to choked drains also continued in many parts, causing inconvenience to people and school children.
Over four dozen localities, including those in posh areas like Gomtinagar, Indiranagar, LDA colony, Shaheed Path, Jankipuram Extension, Vikasnagar, Aliganj and Kapoorthala, were inundated in ankle-to-knee-deep water.
A campaign organized by Scholars Home School under 'School Chalo Abhiyan' had to be canceled due to waterlogging outside the gate.
Kamlesh Yadav, a resident of Vibhuti Khand, said "Our house ran out of LPG and I could not take delivery of the cylinder but due to knee-deep water outside our house."
Aditya Singh Gaharwar (23), a resident of Aliganj, said, "Due to choked drains, e are living in constant fear of catching vector-borne diseases.
Meanwhile, LMC commissioner Indrajit Singh said "Our team visited several places where waterlogging was reported and came to know that the problem is due to clogged drains. We have cleaned most of the drains. I have instructed my team to visit the areas which have reported waterlogging."
