Showcase Cinema at Bargeddie is reopening its doors tomorrow – and is offering admission to all films for £5 to welcome back movie fans.
New protection measures put in place by the cinema chain include self-scan entry points to use with tickets booked online, showings being spread out throughout each day and reduced numbers of people being admitted to each cinema to allow for cleaning and social distancing respectively, plus the installation of air-purifying systems and use of anti-viral spray on every seat.
The cinema at the leisure park beside the A8 is reopening on Friday, July 24, with a selection of popular films – including blockbuster favourites Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, Jurassic Park and Superman: The Movie, plus its “Flashback” programme classics such as Back to the Future and When Harry Met Sally.
Its opening-day bill also includes a number of family favourites including Disney’s Onward and animated adventure Sing; as well as Les Miserables and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Movie-goers are being asked to book online and use contactless payment, including for refreshments; there will be hand sanitising stations for customers as well as protective screens around each till and cleaning of high touch-point areas every half-hour.
Showcase’s guidelines also state: “Do not enter the cinema if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.
“We encourage the wearing of a face covering. Please avoid entering the cinema until 10 minutes before the film’s scheduled start time.”
