Showboating boxer gets knocked out while taunting opponent with 15 seconds to go

Boxer Sabri Sediri was cruising through his WBO European super lightweight title bout against Sam Maxwell on Saturday. Then, with the final seconds ticking down in the 10th round, Sediri did the inexcusable.

He stopped boxing and instead taunted his opponent.

What Sediri got in return was the most embarrassing knockout loss we’ll see in high-level boxing. As Sediri was busy taunting the British boxer, Maxwell caught him with a brutal right cross with just under 15 seconds remaining in the fight.

Sediri was almost knocked out cold, falling to the canvas. Maxwell won the fight — he couldn’t believe it. Nobody watching the fight could believe it.

It was the kind of comeback reserved for bad boxing movies. That meltdown simply doesn’t happen in real life. Until Saturday, I mean, because it happened.

Let that be a lesson in sportsmanship — Sediri certainly found that one out the hard way.

It was the first loss of Sediri’s career.
