The cries of ‘Bristol, Bristol, Bristol’ would likely have been heard reverberating out of Ashton Gate all the way to Clifton had the club's loyal fans been able to watch their side live as they reached the Gallagher Premiership semi-final and European Challenge Cup final this season.
But with Government restrictions on large scale gatherings to prevent the spread of Covid-19 still in place, that has not been possible.
However the Bristol Bears fan still want to make their voices heard as Pat Lam and his squad are making club history and they have come up with an ingenious solution.
Bears fan Rachel Pearce posted on the Bristol Rugby Supporters Group that supporters should write letters to the team congratulating them and wishing them good luck.
The idea was immediately jumped upon by a large number of supporters and has been widely shared on social media.

The post from Rachel reads: “Whilst we are elated about Bristol Bears and the incredible performance this season, I feel Pat [Lam] and boys need congratulating and we can not do that in the normal way; so I think we should try and inundate Pat and the team with postcards either sent to Ashton Gate or the training ground saying well done.
“I think this should be somewhat like cards sent to Sir Tom when he was 100. It won’t work well unless it is done enmass.'
War veteran Sir Tom Moore, who has raised £29m for the NHS by walking laps of his garden during the coronavirus lockdown, was sent more than 65,000 birthday cards when he turned 100 earlier this year.
Rachel added: “Who is up for this? It is a simple and meaningful gesture.
“Please don’t forget to spread the word to everyone to send them in.”
She urged schools to get involved with children writing to their favourite players and then sending them in.
Bristol Bears play their Premiership semi-final this weekend and will face either Exeter Chiefs or Wasps, before facing Toulon on Friday, October 16 in their first ever European final.
The address to send the letters to is:
