'Show that we deserve to be in the top six', Neal Ardley tells Notts County

Notts County manager Neal Ardley says his side will pay Dagenham the “ultimate respect” as he urged his players to show they deserve to be in the top six.

The Magpies face Peter Taylor’s side at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night hoping to make it four games unbeaten after coming from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw at Dover at the weekend.

The visitors arrive in the city in the middle of an excellent run with the Daggers currently 11 games unbeaten as they look for promotion back to the Football League.

Ardley is anticipating a very difficult examination under the floodlights at Meadow Lane against a top-six side, but wants his squad to prove they are worthy of such a lofty position with Notts just three points off the play-offs.

“They’re 11 games unbeaten and Peter Taylor has done a great job there,” he said.

“You don’t go unbeaten that long through luck, you do it because you’ve got a lot of qualities in your team.

“They will always be defensively sound, they won’t be open.

“They won’t be a team that we can attack willy-nilly.

“They are above us for a reason just like Dover were and they created chances against us.

“We will give them the ultimate respect and see if we can show that we deserve to be in that top six.”
