'Show some respect' - Fans hit out at Nottingham Forest's Sabri Lamouchi statement

Nottingham Forest fans have blasted the club’s terse statement which announced Sabri Lamouchi’s departure as the Reds moved swiftly to appoint Chris Hughton as his successor.

Lamouchi was dismissed earlier tonight after failing to win any of their opening games this  term, which followed on from the disastrous final day of last season when Forest blew a top-six finish.

The Reds announced his departure with a brief statement which said: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that the contract of head coach Sabri Lamouchi has been terminated with immediate effect.”

But that brought some disappointed responses from the club’s fans who say he deserved at least a thank you for giving them their best league finish in 10 years.

Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

Food and Fifa: “Considering this is towards a manager who gave us the best season for years ... this statement is fairly lacklustre.”

Matt Day:  “Is that really all you can muster to say? Surely he’s worth more than two lines? For most of last season we were on the right track, shame it fell away at the end but he gave our fan base something to believe in for first time in years, he deserves better than that.

Edward Timmins: “Would have expected a thank you at least from the club for the best league finish in 10 years!

Cameron Clark: “Show some respect, yes things didn’t go to plan but Sabri has the respect of most of our fans. At least say thanks for his effort and wish him all the best.”

Gary: “What a poor statement.”

Darren Morley: “What the hell is happening to this club. Yes he probably had to go but show some class!”

Claire: “The fact I have more respect for the man you’ve just let go right now, and who I admittedly wanted gone speaks volumes. Poor from you this.”

Saul: "Imagine not saying thanks to the guy that’s given us hope for the first time since Billy, Shame on you Forest and good luck Sabri on your future endeavours. It’s so sad that this is the end after all the joy last season."

Shaun: "Is that it? Surely the guy deserves some nice words at the least? Same with Ben Watson."

Lewis Morris: "For all his faults and he needed to go but to not thank him and wish him well etc is poor from the club."
