Should we bring back the city's bus lanes?

Most of Liverpool's bus lanes were removed in 2013 by former city mayor Joe Anderson because they were a nuisance to drivers.

But, said campaigners at the time, wasn't that the point? Bus lanes were designed to get drivers out of their gas-guzzling cars and onto public transport, or even onto their bikes, which were allowed to use the lanes.

Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram is planning to create three new green bus corridors, a combination of priority lanes, traffic signal upgrades, remodelled junctions and upgraded, accessible passenger facilities with the purpose of prioritising buses, which are responsible for 82% of all public transport journeys in the Liverpool City Region. But is it enough? Should Liverpool's 21 former bus lanes be brought back?
