Should Titans RB Derrick Henry be on your 2019 fantasy team?

Running back Derrick Henry worked wonders on the field for both the Tennessee Titans and fantasy football teams during 2018.

Henry had a record-breaking year, posting 1,059 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. He also totaled 15 receptions — a new personal best.

However, before the final stretch of the season, the former Alabama rusher definitely played second fiddle to fellow running back Dion Lewis.

The majority of Henry’s production came in the last few games of the year as the Titans threatened to make a playoff push. Before that, Henry’s numbers were largely inconsistent, and he failed to deliver many points to fantasy owners.

There’s no question that Henry will be the workhorse back moving forward, and may also play a small role in the passing game.

So, just how valuable of an addition to a fantasy roster is Henry, and where should you draft him ahead of the upcoming season?

According to Clutch Points’ Hunter Noll’s outlook, he shouldn’t be selected until the middle rounds.

“In the end, Derrick Henry will be a solid fantasy bench player that you shouldn’t take anywhere earlier than middle rounds. There’s too much risk. If you want to start him weekly though, he’ll reward you on occasion.”

It will be interesting to see just how much of last year’s momentum Henry is able to carry into 2019.
