Should the Vikings show interest in WR Pierre Garcon?

On Friday, the 49ers declined the team option for wide receiver Pierre Garcon.

That means Garcon, 32, will be a free agent.

It’s been a tough two seasons for Garcon in San Francisco. He played in just eight games in both 2017 and 2018. Last season, he finished with just 24 catches for 286 yards and his only touchdown has a member of the 49ers.

With that being said, we’re just two and a half years removed from when Garcon finished with 1,000 yards with the Redskins. Although two and a half years is a long time for an athlete.

We’ve discussed it before on this site, but the Vikings are in need of another wide receiver. Both Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are great, but there’s a dropoff after that.

Laquon Treadwell has been a huge disappointment, and the other receivers under contract next season are Chad Beebe, Brandon Zylstra and Jeff Badet.

Garcon won’t demand a lot of money given his age and recent production.

It feels like this is a low-risk move that makes a whole of sense.
