Should the TV Licence fee be scrapped? Let us know in our poll

The TV Licence fee is expected to rise by £13 in April. Reports suggest the fee is due to rise from £159 to £179 - the biggest increase in 20 years.

It has led to some people calling for it to be scrapped altogether. The rise will mean that those paying monthly will pay £14 a month - compared to Netflix's £10.99 a month for the standard plan.

The BBC, which is responsible for collecting the licence fee, has already announced it will suspend it as part of a one-off dispensation for King Charles III's coronation weekend. The move will allow venues to screen the live coronation ceremony coverage on May 6 and the coronation concert on May 7 without the need to purchase a TV licence.

The licence covers viewers for watching more than 400 TV channels, everything on BBC iPlayer and live streaming other online services such as ITVX, Sky Go and Amazon Prime. But do you agree with the proposed rise?

You can let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. You can also let us know whether you think the licence fee should be scrapped by voting in our poll below.
