Should the Steelers try to sign WR Gary Jennings Jr.?

It’s no mystery the Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to try to find answers at the wide receiver position. While most of us don’t want Antonio Brown back, it’s clear his absence has been felt on the field. Donte Moncrief has been benched but the guys who are trying to fill the role haven’t been impressive.

News out of Seattle is that they have released former fourth-round pick Gary Jennings Jr. and you just know Steelers fans are going to be clamoring for him to come to Pittsburgh.

Many Steelers fans know Jennings as he played his college ball as West Virginia. He was also a name thrown around prior to the draft as a potential target for the Steelers but this was largely by NFL draft pundits who saw Jennings’ potential and felt like he would be a speedy replacement for Brown with speed.

Will the Steelers put in a waiver claim? Perhaps. They are high enough on the waiver priority they have a realistic shot to get him. And with their recent change in philosophy, nothing should be off the table.
