With the news of Anthony Chickillo’s arrest, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a precarious position. Pittsburgh has vowed to be a team free of drama and off-field tensions, and it seems this situation with Chickillo qualifies as both. The rules of the NFL are pretty clear on situations like this but we are very early in the process. But given the team’s emphasis on keeping football the focus do they get out ahead of this and release Chickillo?
If Chickillo did what he’s accused of he has to go. The only rub is whether or not the team should shoulder the risk of keeping Chickillo on the roster while things sort themselves out in the courts.
