Should the Steelers go after CB Patrick Peterson via trade?

It seems Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson isn’t happy with his situation with the Cardinals. He made a rather telling post on Instagram which one could indicate he wants out of Arizona. There’s nothing confirmed on this as of now but it really feels like Peterson could find himself traded before the start of the NFL draft on Thursday.

This should matter to the Steelers.

Peterson has been one of the best all-around cornerbacks in the NFL during his eight seasons. Last season he ranked as the No. 5 cornerback in the league according to Pro Football Focus. The former No. 5 overall pick has started all 128 of his career games.

The Steelers signed Steven Nelson as a free agent to help at cornerback but this should not preclude them from going after Peterson. It’s highly likely the Steelers are going to use their first-round pick on a cornerback so why not use this pick as part of a package to get a player you already know is great rather than speculate?

Peterson has around $23 million left on his contract with two years left. This makes him very tradeable but if he decides to go full Antonio Brown and demand a massive new deal in order to facilitate the trade, all bets are off.

How much would you be willing to give up for Peterson? Let us know in the comments below. Personally, I’d go with a first this year and a second next year to get him in the fold with Joe Haden and Nelson.
