Should the Raiders target WR Will Fuller in free agency rather than Nelson Agholor?

The Raiders have a big decision to make in regards to Nelson Agholor this offseason. After a breakout season in Las Vegas, the former USC receiver is scheduled to hit free agency.

While the team would love to have him back as it’s clear that he fits well in Jon Gruden’s offense, there are better (and more proven) options on the market that could make this offense even more explosive.

One such player is Will Fuller, who is expected to leave the Texans this offseason via free agency. Fuller is one of the league’s best deep threats and his speed is game-changing. In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, he was named one of the top free agents on the market. Here is a snippet of their thoughts on the former Notre Dame star:

“Will Fuller has the all-important “speed you can’t teach,” which will always elevate him beyond where his production would otherwise rank him. It was clear even when the Texans had DeAndre Hopkins as their No. 1 receiver that Fuller made a material difference to the offense just by being on the field. Defenses needed to respect that deep threat on every single snap. He has yet to top 1,000 receiving yards in a season and has missed a lot of time with injuries throughout his career, but he will still be in his mid-20s when free agency rolls around. And his speed threat is transformative for an offense that doesn’t have it.”

If the Raiders are going to invest free-agent dollars on the wide receiver position, why not go and get the best deep threat available on the market? Fuller will certainly cost more than Agholor, but his talent and production are far more impressive.

Should the Raiders pair Fuller with Henry Ruggs, they would have (arguably) the fastest wide receiver duo in the NFL. And with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow working in the middle of the field, they would suddenly have one of the most explosive and dynamic offenses in the NFL. Defenses would have no choice but to play both safeties deep, opening up the run game as well as the short passing attack.

Keep an eye on Fuller’s market in free agency as the Raiders could be potential buyers if the price is right.
