Should the Raiders add a veteran defensive end before training camp?

The Raiders have made several key additions to their defense this season, adding the likes of Cory Littleton, Maliek Collins and Carl Nassib by way of free agency. But have they done enough to improve their pass-rush?

The Raiders are certainly hoping that former No. 4 overall pick Clelin Ferrell can make a step in Year 2. They are also expecting Maxx Crosby to continue to build off his rookie season. But given their overall youth at the position, should the Raiders try to add more talent to the group?

In a recent piece by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report, he suggested that the Raiders try to upgrade their pass-rush in order to complete their offseason rebuild. Take a look at why Knox believes the Raiders would be wise to continue adding depth to their defensive line:

It would behoove the Raiders to add another pass-rusher to a unit that produced just 32 sacks in 2019. The Raiders have nearly $13 million in cap space remaining and could afford to bring in a free agent like Ziggy Ansah or Everson Griffen before camp.

Knox brought up the possibility of adding Ansah or Griffen, but another name that has to be considered is Jadeveon Clowney. While any of the three would be worth-while additions for the Raiders, Clowney is the youngest and brings the most athleticism to the table.

Knowing how aggressive general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden have been during their tenures with the Raiders, don’t be surprised if the Raiders think about signing another veteran edge rusher. And given the current price tag on all three rushers, it is certainly something the Raiders should be able to afford, as well.
